Elton John revealed that he will be retiring from touring at an emotional press conference on Wednesday. But before he says his farewells, the John, 74,announced that he will be going on a three-year, 300-cityFarewell Yellow Brick Road tour, kicking off in Allentown, P.A. and wrapping back up in the U.S. sometime in 2021.

"I'm not going to be touring anymore, apart from this global tour which launches in September," he told CNN's Anderson Cooper during the press conference.

John's announcement was made live at New York's Gotham Hall with fans tuning in through YouTube, while reporters in L.A. and London watched through VR streaming. The announcement featured dazzling video and a live performance of some of the singer's greatest hits.

TheRocket Mansinger made it clear that his health isn't the reason why he will be retiring, but rather a change of priorities-- simply put, wanting to spend more time with his two sons, Zachary, 10, and Elijah, 5.

"Before the children, I thought this is what I'm going be doing till the day I die," John said on Good Morning Americaon Thursday. "But I don't want to be traveling away from my children. They need me. I need them much more than much more than another tour or doing another show."

Rest assured, the iconic performer isn't retiring from record-making or even the possibility of performing small shows and concerts. But as far as touring goes, theFarewell Yellow Brick Road tourwill be John's last with no plans for a revival or returning to the road, he told Cooper. "I'm not Cher, even though I like wearing her clothes this is the end."

Ticket sales for the farewell tour will be available Feb. 2.
